Art Therapy Group for Releasing Anxiety

The experience of anxiety can be overwhelming and affect our well-being, work, relationships and quality of life. Self-expression through art-making can help us explore these challenging emotions and provide an outlet to channel our stresses and anxious feelings. Group art therapy offers a safe, non-judgmental and supportive environment where participants can share their experiences while building self-awareness and coping skills through art.

This group will help participants manage stress and anxiety-related symptoms through art, play and mindfulness techniques.

In the Art Therapy for Releasing Anxiety Group, we’ll be:

👍Learning ways to express ourselves through art

👍Practicing self-compassion and self-acceptance

👍Practicing mindfulness techniques to release stress

👍Getting to know our inner worrier and inner judge with kindness

👍Exploring ways to self-care

This art therapy group is for adults 18 years of age or older. No previous art skills are required to participate!

Group Details

Starting Monday, Oct. 30, 2023

For: Adults interested in learning ways to manage stress and anxiety-related symptoms through art, play and mindfulness techniques. No previous art experience required!

When: Every Monday, 6:30–8:30pm for 7 weeks

Where: 60 Main St East, Second Floor, Huntsville, ON

Fee: $420 for 7 weeks ($60 per 2-hour session)

Note: Group art therapy may be covered by insurance plans that cover psychotherapy. Check with your insurance company to confirm.

About the Facilitator

Janet Ho

Janet Ho is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and Clinical Art Therapist. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from York University and previously worked at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in the Addictions Division in research. In her work with clients, Janet brings a trauma-informed, strength-based approach that nurtures mindfulness, play, self-awareness, self-expression, growth and resilience to lead more fulfilling and meaningful lives.
